THE AUTRY: FLOW Bench by Sef Pinney

Process video of making the bench! Each 10ft long Red Oak slat is soaked for 48hrs, then placed into a custom built double steamer for 1hour. When it comes out at 212 degrees Fahrenheit there is only 30seconds of pliability to bend it and twist it and clamp it into shape. The steel structure is both the mold for this step and the final frame, eliminating a wasted intermediate mold. Each slat then stays clamped overnight to the laser cut steel ribs. It is rejiggered in the morning and gets milled and drilled and finished in the subsequent days. Sef did this 75 times.
